ABCDad

Catch 'ABCDad' on bbc iplayer.

A young man struggling with a secret gets his life back on track in this inspiring short film.

It was a pleasure to direct this film and I hope that Mike Sanderson's beautifully understated performance touches you as much as it does I.

JAC A'R GOEDEN FFA

JAC A'R GOEDEN FFA

Preparations for Panto are well under way and with just over a week to go until the first day of rehearsal's I am feeling pretty excited by this years show.

Martyn has done a great job writing and re writing the script, and having had a day of workshoping the script with the cast, it feels like a truly collaborative affair.

Becky Davies's design is looking sublime and I think everyone will have a shock with regards to the huge steps we have all taken this year to ensure that this show hits the mark, in every way.

Stephen J Preston's arrangements have lifted Martyn's lovely melodies to new heights with his orchestral arrangements.

I want to create a beautiful Pantomime. I just want it to be beautiful.

Shameless promotion!!!

AGH!!!!

Busy preparing for the Urdd residential course in which Sian Summers has agreed to work as our dramaturg/writer(VERY EXCITED!). Hope to push the boundaries a little.

Also outlining ideas for Arad Goch's show 'Al ac Ant-CHABS'.This is going to be a tough one I think. Great challenge and hope we manage to pitch it just right? Looking forward to our brainstorming session next week. Very pleased that the lovely Lowri Sion has agreed to come on board as our 3rd actor.

Also casting for R.C.T Theatre's/Cwmni Martyn Geraint's Welsh Language Panto, 'Jac and the Beanstalk'. Have had a FANTASTIC response from actors and have seen some great new talent coming through.

Lots of laughs to be had for the rest of the year I hope.

WNO and Alzheimer's Society

First session with Alzheimer's Society and WNO MAX.

Q: What did I learn?

A; That I have a lot to learn.

What a great, inspiring, truly wonderful bunch of people we met.
Those of you who are sceptical regarding the value of the Arts in today's society, just come and watch some of these sessions in progress.

LLYNCU GEIRIAU/BOOKWORMS

Theatr Arad Goch have been working with the Welsh Book Council and Basic Skills Wales to inform young people of new books and encourage them to read, by dramatising a selection of scenes into lively theatrical productions. Directed by Arad Goch's Artisitc Director Jermey Turner, the projects have been highly successful and many have found a new love for reading and literature.

Running along side theses productions have been workshops to actively encourage the young people to engage with the characters and stories which hopefully fuel their interest even more.

Angharad has been running these workshops over the past few weeks.

WNO MAX and ALZHEIMER'S SOCIETY TEAM UP

Having had an exciting meeting with Sarah Teagle at WNO MAX, I am feeling ridiculously excited about being involved with a project that is very close to my heart.
WNO MAX and The Alzheimer's Society will be teaming up to deliver an inspiring workshop residency for sufferers and their carers. Workshops to inspire and entertain, but more excitingly for me it will be my first actual insight into how drama therapy, an often overlooked modality, can hopefully access and reacquaint sufferers with the 'self'.

"Drama Therapy can be a tool in teaching Alzheimer sufferers to view the self as something that can be made rather than found".

They will be sessions of discoveries. Using sensory pathways rather than cognitive pathways to aid communication. I am looking forward to seeing how creative therapies and approaches are integral to a persons well being and how these experiences and moments might lighten the load for the carers for just a few hours a day, enabling them to see their loved ones in a new light once again.

SXTO/SEXTING

Rehearsals have finished and we are all excited about venturing out with this subject matter to Secondary Schools over the next 5 weeks. During our 2 weeks of preparation for these Forum Theatre session's discoveries and realisations were sought and made, but more importantly a genuine appreciation with regards to how easily it is to get sucked in to this new phenomenon, and how and uncomplicated press of a button can lead to some horrendous and life changing encounters.
If we were to take a Polaroid picture of ourselves naked, there would be at least 4 different opportunities for us to THINK and DECIDE as to whether this is the right thing to do.
1- when we take the picture
2- when you put that picture in the envelope
3 - when you write a recipients address on that envelop
4 - during the long walk to the post box
5 - just as we go to post that picture.
5 moments to contemplate, way up, scrutinise your decision. You just would not do it!!!
All this time is taken away when we introduce the humble mobile phone into the equation. It's a simple case of out of sight out of mind, until that fateful day when we realise that everything we send into cyberspace is retrievable and will inevitably come back to haunt us.

SEXTING

Arad Goch will be commencing on a brand new project called “Sexting” in 2011. This project deals with the contemporary issues that derive from “sexting”– the sending of messages or photos of a sexual nature by text – by combining live performance, chat and discussion with resources and further development “on-line”. It is a three year project, so who knows what technologies and the world wide web will lead us to next? Destruction??????

Directed by Angharad and written by Bethan Gwanas, this project is already underway and in the early stages of development.

My Grandmother and Me

I will be running the Llanelli Half Marathon on the 6th of March to raise money for a cause which is very close to my heart, 'The Alzheimer's Society'.
As I'm sure you have guessed I am indeed trying to drum up as much support and donations as possible, so apologies if you have already seen this on the dreaded 'Facebook' and 'Twitter'!

I have attached a link below with all the information needed, a little info as to why I am running for this cause, and very much hope that you will be able to donate as little or as much as you can:-
